The Treasure Port

We here at the Treasure Port are interested in preserving our environment for future generations.  Our business needed to fit that ideology, so mass majority of our items come straight from estate sales, not a retail store.  By reusing items, we save energy, costs in manufacturing and  shipping (from factory to the store) and save our land for something other than landfill use! 

So unless our ad specifically states that the item is 'brand new' IT IS NOT NEW!  It has been used by the previous owners, sometimes for over a hundred years.  Often times, items come without their original boxes or paperwork and often times with no known provenance.  When we do on occasion get information about the items we purchase, we post that information in the item description. 

We inspect and accurately describe EACH AND EVERY ITEM WE SELL so PLEASE read the item descriptions carefully before you buy and understand WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHERE THESE ITEMS COME FROM! 

If we feel we can safely clean an item, we will.  However, there are many instances where we feel that a cleaning will either best be done by the new owner, a professional or that our cleaning an item would detract in some way.  (i.e. antique quilts, bronze or brass items, paper items, etc.)  These kinds of items get passed on to you just as we found them!  We cannot with certainty say whether any item we purchase comes from a smoke and/or pet free home.  Our home is smoke free, but not free of pets.  We have two cats, two ferrets and on occasion, our son's dog, Allie.

While we sometimes use new materials for packing, again, we are as ecologically green minded as possible.  (As should WE ALL BE!)  In order to minimize our inpact on the environment we use mostly RECYCLED PACKING MATERIALS.  Again, we cannot vouch for the type of environment these items came from and we cannot be responsible for any item smelling of some foreign substance.  (Smoke, dust, what-have-you).  Between the items original environment and recycled packing materials, sometimes things just smell! 

We feel this is a small price to pay for our part in saving our environment.  So we hope you will understand and support our idea of a greener tomorrow!  Smells can go away, but if we lose our environment, nothing else will matter.  Not grandma's quilt, not uncle Harvey's thing-a-ma-jig, nor anything else.
